I've had my previous GE AC for about 16 years before it stopped cooling last summer, so that's why I wanted to get my new one from the same company. They earned my trust by making something so durable that kept my room cool for over a decade. So far so good. I'm very pleased with my new unit. Does a great job of cooling my bedroom and also saves me money by turning on and off in ECO mode. One new feature that I really like is the DELAY ability, where you can not only set your AC to turn off, but you can also set it to turn on after a certain amount of hours.

My unit definitely does not cool off the space it's in; it stays on all night with the doors & windows closed and even by the next morning it's not cool. I regret buying this unit

I'm 66 and have installed window air conditioners since I was 14. This is a nightmare to install with the poorly designed brackets on each side. Avoid this like the plague.

This small ac is all we needed for our small house, we have a larger thru the wall ac but only turned it on 3 or 4 times last year. We have had it for 2 summers and run it non stop in the summer and have had no problems.

1. The AC is quite loud 2. There is a constant blinking red light on the front control panel in the filter area of the panel. I was missing the filter and GE sent one to me, thanks. But putting in the filter did not stop the blinking red light. I need GE help on this!

I purchased two of these 6000 BTU units when our whole house AC conked out. I only expected to cool 2 small rooms with this unit until we could purchase a larger one for the main living area. These two small units cool our entire house to 82 degrees when the heat index is 103! We do live in small house (just under 1000 square feet), but it still amazes me! And the Delay on and off is a great feature. I can set the units to start running 1 hour prior to coming home and the house has a decent cool to it by the time I arrive!! Super quiet also!!

It's pretty heavy for a 000 but, I don't really like those pleated side things when putting the unit together. They are weak and split easily.

I chose this AC unit as it was just about the only one I could find that would fit the specific narrow window I needed it for, and because I trusted the GE brand. It fits, and it cools somewhat, but that's about it for the positives.
Drawbacks:
- It's really loud. I've owned many AC units in my life and this is among the loudest, even when it's just the fan. It creates a lot of noise outside too, which I'm sure my apartment neighbors don't love.
- The minimum possible temperature is 64. Why? I'd like it to be 60, but would settle for 62, which is what the majority of AC's seem to be capable of. Set to 62, I could probably get the room temperature down to 64, which is a good sleeping temperature. But set to 64, the room almost never gets below 66 or 67, which isn't cool enough for me. Seems like a strange choice.
- This applies to all AC units, but...when is a manufacturer going to create an option to turn off the lights at night? Temperature readout and indicator lights are super bright and light up the room while I'm trying to sleep. I had to put electrical tape over them.
- The vent portion (where the air comes out) lets in a TON of light. It's almost as if the unit is translucent there, so every bit of light from outside comes in - and it gets light really early here in the summer. Just a poor design, and again, it seems like manufacturers don't realize that many people use these things while trying to sleep, and would like things dark.
- When you turn the unit back on after it's been off, by default it always starts in ECO mode. In order to change it to "cool," you have to cycle past "fan," at which point the compressor turns off and it stops blowing cold air, before you can actually get to "cold." It then takes quite a while to turn back on. It would be great if you could just set it the way you always use it and then forget it, but the adjustment always has to be made.
- It doesn't cool as quickly or thoroughly as I'd hoped. It's a 6000 BTU unit, meant for a 250 square foot room. My bedroom is 160 square feet, and it still just doesn't completely do the job.
It's good enough, I suppose, since my options were limited by the narrow window. But overall I'm disappointed and wouldn't recommend this AC unit.

I live in an old house with 10-foot ceilings. The outside walls of my bedroom are slate. It's like a pizza-oven. I have east-facing and south-facing windows. It's usually 10-15 degrees hotter in there than the rest of the house. Plus it's humid. I got it on a Tuesday night and woke up on Wednesday wrapped up in my blankets. I love it!
